Movies on the Point
Spring Outdoor Movie Series
Next Movie: Saturday, April 18
The first movie will start at sunset with a New Orleans-based Disney flick, THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG! Following a brief intermission, the second movie (for the big kids and adults) is A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE!
The Algiers Point Association, in partnership with the Berean Bible Church, is pleased to announce a new neighborhood event for this spring - MOVIES ON THE POINT!
Every third Saturday of the month, for the next three months, a FREE family friendly movie will be held outdoors on the big screen (outside Holy Name of Mary Church).
Head over around 6:45pm to set up blankets and chairs, visit the concession stand hosted by the Knights of Columbus, and have the kiddos take part in games and activities hosted by Confetti Kids! As soon as it is dark enough, the movie will begin!
Many thanks to our friends at the Berean Bible Church, who are very graciously providing the equipment and the movie for us all to enjoy! And thanks to Holy Name of Mary Church, for hosting!
Easter Egg Hunt
Free Easter Egg Hunt in Algiers Point on Sunday, March 29!
The Confetti Kids Annual Easter Egg Hunt is the best way to catch a glimpse of the Easter Bunny and find some goodies before the big day! The free public event will be held in Delcazal Park (corner of Opelousas and Verret) on Sunday, March 29 at 3 p.m. The hunt will begin promptly at 3:15. Open to all New Orleans kiddos.
Confetti Kids is a grassroots nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of the children of Algiers Point.
When Confetti Kids was organized in 2000 by a group of neighborhood families, the original mandate was to renovate our area’s public playgrounds. We strongly believe that renovating and equipping our neighborhood playgrounds is a commitment to our children’s future as productive members of an inclusive neighborhood community.
During the next three years, we worked to completely overhaul Confetti Park for the 2-5 year olds. We also worked in partnership with the Algiers Point Association, Art Council of New Orleans, Friends of NORD, Old Algiers Mainstreet Corp., and NORD to achieve the renovation of Delcazal Playground for the 6-12 year olds.
Upon the successful completion of the parks projects in 2003, we have refocused our efforts on fostering a sense of community in bringing neighbors together as well as hosting child-centered programming. All events are open to the public.
